Brewton City Board of Education operates a school lunch program under the guidelines and regulations of the federal Child Nutrition Program at Brewton Elementary School and Brewton Middle School.  At either school, the price for a paid student lunch is $2.55 per day.  For those students qualifying for a federally subsidized reduced lunch, the daily amount per meal is 40 cents.  An extra milk is .35 cents per carton for all students.  A guest lunch is $3.80 per meal.  Guests should schedule a meal through the lunchroom manager or school office.

The application form for a free or reduced student lunch may be acquired at the school office.  Only one application for free or reduced meals needs to be submitted for all students who are in one family and living at one address.  This application will include the names of all the children in the family so it is only necessary for one application to be completed.  The financial table for qualifying for free or reduced lunches is below.

Your children may qualify for for free or reduced price meals if your household income falls within the limits on this chart:

Paying for school lunches is fully automated; therefore, you may pay for a week, month, or year and it will be maintained in your child's account.  For your convenience we encourage you to pay in advance; however, you may continue to pay by the week.  The cafeteria serves a nutritious and balanced lunch each day.  Milk is served with lunch unless a doctor's order requiring a change is provided. Student lunches are $2.55 per day or $12.75 per weekExtra milk with a school lunch or for those who bring lunch is 35 cents per day or $1.75 per weekDue to Child Nutrition Program policy, students may not charge lunches.  Returned checks for lunch funds must be picked up immediately upon office notification of check return.  (see returned checks below) If a student has forgotten his/her lunch money, it will be necessary for us to call you concerning the charges.  Please make sure that your child has lunch money before leaving home.  Free and reduced price meals are available to children and based on scales of income and family size established by the USDA.  Applications are available in the school office and will be sent home on the first day of school.   Lunches brought to school should be in suitable containers that protect the contents.

Students are not permitted to bring carbonated beverages (cokes, etc) or any drink in glass bottles.  Please do not send carbonated drinks in thermos bottles.  We also ask that you do not bring lunches from local restaurants to the office or cafeteria. If your child forgets his/her lunch, bring it to the office to be delivered.  Students who bring a lunch from home need to have a nutritious lunch and must refrain from sharing or trading food items with other students in the cafeteria.
